Classroom Guidance Curriculum

Counselors at SMS present classroom guidance lessons to the students several times a year.   The guidance curriculum promotes knowledge, attitudes, and skills through instruction in three content areas:  academic achievement, career development, and personal/social growth.   Listed below are the topics presented by grade level:

Grade 6

• Bully Prevention - "Gum in my Hair"
• 6th Grade College and Career Lesson

Grade 7

• Prevention of Sexual Harassment
• "Don't Forget to Like" - Bullying Lesson
• 7th Grade College and Career Lesson

Grade 8

• Violence Prevention/Healthy Relationships
• 8th Grade College and Career Lesson
